80/20 Rule

In this video Sandra describes that the 'how-to" part of buying your own home is only 20% of the equation at most. So what is the 80%?

Listen in as Sandra describes a bit about her own journey as an empowered woman and how you can benefit from what she has to share in her book Home Worthy: How to Buy Your Dream Home with Ease and through her online offerings, including live events that are FREE and open to the public.

Hey, thanks for watching, I’m Sandra Rinomato. I’ve become a first time buyer expert ever since I was on my show Property Virgins on HGTV and Netflix which was about first time buyers, all demographics, couples, singles, you name it, and then I created a show called Buy Herself, which was about single women buying their own homes. I created it because at that time about 1 in 4 home buyers was a woman, compared to 1 in 10 a man.

I mean, that’s really interesting. 27% women and only 10% men??

Since then the numbers in the US have dropped a bit and I don’t have Canadian stats yet.

Working with more and more women buying homes on their own I started to realize that there are a lot of women out there, not just here in Toronto where I live and work, but everywhere that could use the information and knowledge that I’ve developed over my career and as a single woman buying my home.

So I sat down and wrote about it. I wrote from the heart, I researched so I could know how to help women better. How I could be better.

 And I learned.

Let me backtrack a bit here. I have worked with a lot of women who have saved a lot of money up, planned and I’m talking $200K after tax dollars , $150K that’s hard, that takes commitment so when we worked toward buying a home, many of them, too many of them stopped themselves inches from the finish line. They changed their mind and didn’t buy.

I had to figure out what happened. And that too drove me to write the book. And I learned. And I shared.

 So what happened?

First of all, there are many kinds of women.

  • Planned and saved, many successfully buying and others not.
  • Just starting to think about it, can I, should I?
  • Never even entertain the thought, it’s too out there, nobody in my family has done this, I’m just a woman

I know that no matter where you are in the process you need to be surrounded by people who get you.

A tribe of people who will uplift you, and who you can learn from, people with experience, successful home owners who started out just like you.

Once they've been successful as homebuyers, they all say, two things; 1) when can I buy another one 2) I’m a completely different person now

So that’s the tip of the iceberg of what we will chat about in these live events, in my book and in the courses I’ve created.

They transformed. They changed. Think on that for a second. It was more than just buying their own place, it was way more than that and the changes they experienced made them feel strong, independent, capable, and reminded them that are worthy.

Do you really need to change in order to go out and get your mortgage qualification, the how to part? No, you just have to do it. The how to part really, if you hire a professional realtor they will have a network of professionals that will help you do everything, so now the HOW TO part becomes really small.

So what’s left? Ha! The biggest most important part. How you think. That's the 80%.

That’s what I’ve learned that we need to explore and in many cases we need to transform those thoughts and beliefs in to the ones that serve us.

I wish I had had help like this, when I was in my 20’s and 30’s. I mean, I never thought about my happiness, never, and nobody ever guided me,

To tell me I was worthy.

Except for one time that I remember.

She said, that’s nice Sandra, but what you do you want?

It wasn’t within my belief system that I should pursue happiness. Are you crazy? I was the crazy one.

Over time I made those changes, big changes and I’m really grateful that I had the wherewithal to put happiness on my list, and to accomplish it. It’s no longer buried, but every once in a while I put it on the back burner and I need a reminder.

So this stuff we’re going to talk about, is going to help you transform into the women you were born to be, and to show you that you are worthy.

You are worthy, you were born worthy, and don’t let anyone take it away from you….

Least of all yourself.

We need to become aware.

I want you to think, be in a pensive mood, start lifting the fog away and really look at things with a new perspective.

What are the things that hold you back from accomplishing big goals?

Is it you, you don’t allow yourself to dream big?

I did. And I know many people today who won’t allow themselves to dream. Young, old, male, female, you name it!

So that is the question I want you to ask yourself. For you. Not for anyone, not for me, not for your family, just you. Worthy you.

Send me your questions, your thoughts. Let me know how I can help.
